Central, ductless or heat pump: choosing for a Tri-Cities house
Summers in Kennewick run hot and dry, and the cold snaps come with very little warning. A system has to be honest about both ends of that year, and the right type of system depends on the house it is going into. A central system moves conditioned air through ductwork and suits a home that already has good duct runs. A ductless system skips the ducts and heats or cools a room or an addition directly. A heat pump does both jobs from one outdoor unit, and in this climate it is often the most sensible way to heat and cool the same house.
The mistake we see most is choosing by habit: putting back whatever came out, or picking the size the last contractor wrote on the old unit. Old equipment tells you what the house needed decades ago, before someone added a bonus room, blew in insulation or replaced the windows. That is why we would rather look at the house first and talk about brands second.

The Comfort Engineer process, from first visit to final walkthrough
It starts with an initial consultation at your house, where we listen to what is wrong: the room that never warms up, the bill that keeps climbing, the unit that runs all afternoon and never catches up. A load calculation follows, which is the arithmetic of how much heating and cooling your particular house actually needs, along with an energy-efficiency assessment. Those numbers are what make a customised system selection possible instead of a guess.
From there you get a cost estimate and a written proposal, so the price and the equipment are in front of you before anything is ordered. On install day the old system is removed, the ductwork is inspected, and the new equipment is tested and calibrated before we call it finished. Our install coordinator, Ryan Lund, and field supervisor Nick Ruff keep the crews on schedule, and the sheet metal that a job needs is fabricated in our own shop on Clearwater Avenue.
Then a maintenance plan is set up, and we come back for a final walkthrough so you can see how the system runs and ask the questions you did not think of during the sale. Each step is on paper, which means a homeowner can compare what we proposed with what was installed.
